Description

Informal gourp portrait of 18 members of the Australian Mounted Cadets, come playing cards, during their visit to England in 1914. Identified second from the left is James Clarence Hendy, who enlisted in the AIF in May 1916 and served with the 10th Infantry Brigade Headquarters. Arriving in France in November 1916, Private Hendy served on the Western Front, and returned to Australia in May 1919. Note the Australian flag draped over the bell tent behind the group.
