Studio portrait of 4728 Corporal (Cpl) Hector William Martin, 24th Battalion, of Carlton, Vic. An upholsterer before enlisting on 14 February 1916, Cpl Martin embarked from Melbourne on HMAT Euripides with the 12th Reinforcements on 4 April 1916. He was killed in action in France on 31 August 1918 at the age of 27.
