Description
North Vietnamese soldiers of the People's Army of Vietnam (PAVN) ford a river as they march towards Phuoc Tuy province. A heavy weapons group in the rear carries various weapons including a Chinese Communist 75 mm recoilless rifle (centre foreground). PAVN units were well trained, strongly led and motivated. Lightly armed and equipped, PAVN soldiers were skilled at battle deployment and capable of rapid movement over long distances.
