Description
Portrait of 219514 Private (Pte) David John 'Bluey' Cree, D Company, 4th Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment - New Zealand (ANZAC) (4RAR), with Milo the black Labrador tracker dog on patrol in Phuoc Tuy Province. Pte Cree is armed with a 5.56 mm M16A1 automatic rifle. Milo served in South Vietnam with 4RAR (twice), 6 RAR and 2RAR from May 1968 to November 1971. By June 1970 he had been credited with five enemy kills and was rated highly as a tracker dog. He was however, considered too playful and ill disciplined as he loved sticks and water. A long term veteran, Milo began to cringe under fire and it was decided to retire him in November 1971. He was adopted by the manager of the Chartered bank in Saigon.
