Studio portrait of QX42085 Private (Pte) Frank Edward Green of Annerley, Qld. A bacon factory employee before the war, Pte Green was a part-time member of the 15th Battalion (Oxley Regiment), Citizens Military Force (serial number Q102891), and joined the Second AIF in as a permanent member in December 1941. He served with the 15th Battalion as part of the defensive positions around Caloundra and Townsville and was later sent to Milne Bay in 1943. Pte Green was killed in action during a Japanese counter-attack on the Australian positions at Lokanu, near Morobe, New Guinea, during the Salamaua Campaign on 5 September 1943. He was aged 21.
