Studio portrait of NX151768 Corporal (Cpl) Ernest Arthur Nairn of Balmain, NSW. An electrical storeman before enlisting with the Second AIF in New Guinea in February 1943, Cpl Nairn served in the Pacific campaign with the 7th Machine Gun Battalion, and returned to Australia an acting sergeant (A/Sgt) to undertake officer training. He was one of 24 men killed onboard a bus which collided with a train at a level crossing at Albury-Woodonga on 8 May 1943. He was aged 24.
