Informal portrait of WX18598 Lance Corporal (L Cpl) Norman George Baker of South Perth, WA. L Cpl Baker enlisted on 6 January 1942 and served with the 2/32 Battalion. The 2/32 served in Palestine and Egypt and contributed greatly to the Allied victory at Alamein. The 2/32 was reorganised for jungle operations and participated in the amphibious landing at Red Beach, north-west Lae, New Guinea. L Cpl Baker was killed in action at Lae on 14 September 1943, aged 36.
