The morning after the stunt
Description
Depicts wounded and war-weary soldiers trapsing through a muddy battlefield, wearing tattered coats and scarves. Some of the men wear hesian sacks wrapped around their boots. There is wooden sign imbedded into the mud pointing to the dressing station they've just visited. Along their path is one board indicating the muddy trail might have once been a duckboard walk. To the side of the trail is a soldier sitting in the mud, one foot is out of his boot as a First Aid officer attends to him. There is a sense that these men have endured a hard, cold and wet winter - their heads and shoulders hang low, the sky is a dull grey and the lack of explosions in the background suggest that the fighting has subsided in this region.
