Studio portrait of 6724 Private (Pte) Ernest James Davis, 4th Battalion, of Maclean, NSW. A saddler and harness maker prior to enlistment, he embarked, aged 26, with the 22nd Reinforcements on SS Port Nicholson on 8 November 1916. Pte Davis was killed in action on 17 April 1918; he has no known grave and his name is recorded on the Villers Bretonneux Memorial, France.
