Caught in the beams
Description
Depicts a night battle scene with a lone aeroplane against a black night sky caught in the beams of six searchlights. One searchlight crew can be seen centre right of the image by the side of the road that traverses the landscape from bottom centre to their position. Two beams seem to come from a village along the horizon line, and the others emanate from indistinguishable locations beyond. While the landscape is obscured by darkness, what can be seen of it reflects a terrain ravaged by war. The lone plane in the sky is coloured a stark white to dramatic effect - vulnerable and alone, its fate is sealed.
