Studio portrait of 1616 Private Arnold Bernays Harvey, 50th Battalion who was a 29 year old accountant from Woodville, South Australia, when he enlisted on 4 March 1916. He embarked for overseas with the 2nd Reinforcements from Adelaide on 11 April 1916 aboard HMAT Aeneas. While serving in France and Belgium with the 13th Infantry Brigade Headquarters, he was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal (MSM) for loyal and valuable service in the Brigade office. He arrived back in Australia as a Quartermaster Sergeant on 29 June 1919. One of 131 photographs displayed on an honour board showing members of the Adelaide Rowing Club who enlisted for active service in the First World War. The original is held by the Adelaide Rowing Club who kindly loaned the board to the Australian War Memorial for copying.
