Studio portrait of 4735 Private Cecil Lisle Hall, 32nd Battalion who was a 26 year old bank clerk from Walkerville, South Australia when he enlisted on 14 June 1916. He embarked for overseas with the 13th reinforcements from Adelaide on 23 June 1917 aboard HMAT Borda. While serving in France with the 43rd Battalion he was promoted to Lance Corporal and then killed in action on 28 March 1918 near Sailly le Sec, on the Somme. He is buried in the Heilly Station Cemetery, 19 kilometres north east of Amiens, France. One of 131 photographs displayed on an honour board showing members of the Adelaide Rowing Club who enlisted for active service in the First World War. The original is held by the Adelaide Rowing Club who kindly loaned the board to the Australian War Memorial for copying.
