Studio portrait of 429929 Flight Lieutenant Alan Woodhouse Crompton who was an 18 year old from Adelaide, South Australia when he joined the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) on 10 October 1942. While attached to the Royal Air Force, (RAF) he was seriously injured in a crash of an aircraft, Sunderland W6009, off the coast of Scotland. He was demobilised on 12 December 1945. One of 86 photographs displayed on an honour board showing members of the Adelaide Rowing Club who enlisted for active service in the Second World War. The original is held by the Adelaide Rowing Club who kindly loaned the board to the Australian War Memorial for copying.
