Studio portrait of 407422 Flight Lieutenant Raymond Gershon Goldberg who was a 21 year old from Adelaide, South Australia when he joined the Royal Australia Air Force (RAAF) on 12 October 1942. He took part in fighter and bomber sorties in the Western Desert, Malta and Sicily and was awarded a Distinguished Flying Cross (DFC) for his actions over the Western Desert. He was demobilised on 12 December 1945. One of 86 photographs displayed on an honour board showing members of the Adelaide Rowing Club who enlisted for active service in the Second World War. The original is held by the Adelaide Rowing Club who kindly loaned the board to the Australian War Memorial for copying.
