Studio portrait of 407084 Leading Aircraftman (LAC) Leslie Robert Taylor who was a 29 year old insurance officer from St Peters, South Australia when he enlisted in the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) on 27 May 1940. He was killed on 6 September 1940 when the Anson R3540 aircraft that he was crewing crashed during a training flight at No 2 Flying Training School at Wagga Wagga, NSW. LAC Taylor is buried in the North Road Anglican Cemetery, Adelaide, South Australia. One of 86 photographs displayed on an honour board showing members of the Adelaide Rowing Club who enlisted for active service in the Second World War. The original is held by the Adelaide Rowing Club who kindly loaned the board to the Australian War Memorial for copying.
