Studio portrait of O339 Air Commodore Norman Philip Ford, who was a 21 year old from Adelaide, South Australia when he joined the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) on 15 July 1935. He served until 15 July 1969, reaching the rank of Air Commodore and was awarded the Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE), Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) and the Air Force Cross (AFC). One of 86 photographs displayed on an honour board showing members of the Adelaide Rowing Club who enlisted for active service in the Second World War. The original is held by the Adelaide Rowing Club who kindly loaned the board to the Australian War Memorial for copying.
