Studio portrait of SX15680 Warrant Officer Class 2 (WO2) Walter Dean James who was a 38 year old clerk from Adelaide, South Australia when he enlisted in the Army on 27 December 1941. He was serving with the 32nd Field Security Section of the Australian Army Intelligence Corps in North Queensland when he died of illness on 10 November 1944. WO2 James is buried in the Townsville War Cemetery, Queensland. One of 86 photographs displayed on an honour board showing members of the Adelaide Rowing Club who enlisted for active service in the Second World War. The original is held by the Adelaide Rowing Club who kindly loaned the board to the Australian War Memorial for copying.
