Description

Studio portrait of 419 Private (Pte) Charles Marsden Harris, 5th Machine Gun Company, of Kerabee, Denman, NSW. A grazier prior to enlistment, Pte Harris embarked with the 6th Reinforcements from Melbourne on HMAT Port Lincoln on 20 October 1916. He transferred to the 23rd Machine Gun Company with the new service number 419A. On 12 October 1917 he was killed in action in the battle of Passchendaele, Belgium, aged 22.
