Description
Collection relating to the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) and Multinational Force and Observers (MFO) service of A47799 Corporal Edward Kym (Kym) Manuel, 9 Squadron RAAF, 1976-1983.
Wallet 1 of 1 - Consists of three flying log books from Manuel's service in the RAAF from 1976 to 1983. The log books cover the periods November 1976 to May 1979, June 1979 to November 1982, and December 1982 to April 1983 (with two additional entries for March 1990) and document more than 1,700 flying hours as a helicopter crewman in the RAAF. The log books include occasional certificates of training and qualification, newspaper clippings, and letters of appreciation or commendation for participation in air shows, air rescues and training exercises. The second log book also documents Manuel's deployment with the MFO from March to October 1982, during which he flew on 110 flights on UH-1 Iroquois helicopters as part of the Anzac Rotary Wing Aviation Unit. The collection also includes Manuel's MFO identification card and a membership card for the Anzac Surf Club, the Australian and New Zealand recreational bar in the Sinai.
