Studio portrait of 3133 Private (Pte) Floyd Owen Robert Wynne, 42nd Battalion, of Warwick, Qld. A dairy farmer before enlisting in October 1916, Pte Wynne left Australia for England with the 7th Reinforcments in February 1917 and arrived in France for service on the Western Front in April 1917. In September 1917 he was wounded during the 42nd Battalion's attack on Passchendaele Ridge on 12 October 1917, and was promoted to the rank of Corporal (Cpl) in May 1918. Cpl Wynne was killed instantly by a German sniper at Quarry Farm during the attack on Mont St Quentin on 1 September 1918, aged 27.
