Studio portrait of 1356 Private (Pte) Charles Fredericks, 3rd Battalion, of Lismore, NSW. A blacksmith and farmer in civilian life, Fredericks had served with the Scottish Rifles prior to enlisting with the 1st AIF. He departed with the 2nd Reinforcements from Sydney on 11 February 1915. Pte Fredericks was killed in action at Gallipoli on 27 July 1915, and was buried at Shrapnel Valley Cemetery.
