Description
Studio portrait of 6995 Sapper (Spr) David John Thomas, 1st Field Company Engineers, of Narrandera, NSW. A customs collector prior to enlistment, he embarked with the 16th Reinforcements from Sydney aboard SS Makarini on 1 April 1916. Later transferring to the 3rd Field Company Engineers, Spr Thomas was killed in action on 30 May 1918, aged 23. He was buried at Borre British Cemetery, France.
