Studio portrait of S3485 Ordinary Seaman (Ord Sea) Henry Ross Sanders of Summer Hill, NSW. Enlisting in the RAN in August 1939, Ord Sea Sanders spent just one month in the navy before he was medically discharged. He enlised in the Second AIF in February 1942 as a Private (Pte) with the serial number NX90058, and served in the Pacific Campaign with the 55/53 Battalion. Pte Sanders was killed in action during the Battalion's attack on Japanese positions along the Sanananda Track on 19 December 1942, aged 22.
