Studio portrait of 3492A Private (Pte) John Myles Gough, 55th Battalion, of Cobargo, NSW. A farmer prior to enlistment, he embarked with the 9th Reinforcements from Sydney aboard HMAT Anchises on 24 January 1917. Later transferring to the 36th Battalion, Pte Gough was killed in action in France on 31 October 1917, aged 22. He was buried at St Sever Cemetery Extension, Rouen, France.
