Studio portrait of 6857 Private (Pte) David Oxford Jones, 1st Battalion, of Lockhart, NSW. Formerly a labourer, Pte Jones enlisted on 26 October 1916 and as a member of the 22nd Reinforcements he embarked from Sydney aboard SS Port Nicholson on 8 November 1916. He served on the Western Front and he was killed in action during the second battle of Bullecourt on 5 May 1917.
