Studio portrait of 3532 Private Phillip Dennis Nothrop, 12th Battalion, of Don, Tas. A labourer prior to enlistment, Pte Nothrop embarked with the 11th Reinforcements from Melbourne on HMAT Ascanius on 10 November 1915. He was later promoted to lance corporal then corporal. He died of illness in Heliopolis, Egypt, on 15 January 1916, aged 18.
