Studio portrait, taken prior to enlistment, of 5009 Private (Pte) Percy Dingle, 26th Battalion (later 49th Battalion), of Miriam Vale, Qld. A labourer before enlisting on February 1916, Pte Dingle embarked from Brisbane on HMAT Seang Choon on 4 May 1916 with the 13th Reinforcements. He was killed in action in France on 2 November 1918. His brother, 5006 Edward Dingle, embarked with him and served in the same units. He died of wounds in France on 5 February 1917.
