Studio portrait of 274 Private (Pte) Henry Edward Hembrow, 11th Machine Gun Company, of Townsville, Qld. A locomotive driver before enlisting on 3 January 1916, Pte Hembrow embarked from Melbourne on 16 August 1916 on the RMS Orontes with the 2nd Reinforcements. He died of wounds at Passchendaele on 30 September 1917 at the age of 23. He had been hit by a bomb dropped by a German aircraft.
