Studio portrait of 5722 Pte Joseph Thomas Landt, 6th Battalion, of Warracknabeal, Vic. A labourer prior to enlistment, Pte Landt embarked with the 18th Reinforcements from Melbourne on HMAT Ayrshire on 3 July 1916. On 4 October 1917 he was killed in action at Broodseinde, Belgium, aged 38. Pte Landt had served in the battalion as a stretcher bearer alongside his brother, 2642 Pte Ernest Raymond Landt, who returned to Australia in 1918.
