Informal portrait of 4548 Private (Pte) Roger Francis Hogan, 29th Battalion, of Birchip, Vic. A farmer prior to enlistment, he embarked on board HMAT Medic (A7) on 16 December 1916. Pte Hogan, a stretcher bearer, was killed by a shell explosion as he was going to the assistance of a wounded man at Morlancourt, France, on 29 July 1918. He was 29 years of age.
