Studio portrait of 421118 Flight Sergeant (Flt Sgt) David McNab Thomson, 192 Squadron RAF, of Sydney NSW. Flt Sgt Thomson enlisted on 7 December 1941 and trained as a pilot in Australia and Canada under the Empire Air Training Scheme (EATS). He was later promoted to Pilot Officer (PO). The 192 Squadron, attached to RAF Station Foulsham in Norfolk, flew over Germany and occupied Europe in order to research German radar. PO Thomson, aged 23, was killed during operations over the English Channel on 5 July 1944.
