Description

Studio portrait of 3049 Private (Pte) Willie Watts Betts, 28th Battalion, of Smithfield, NSW. Formerly a labourer Pte Betts enlisted under the name of William Brett on 2 September 1915 and embarked from Fremantle with the 7th Reinforcements aboard HMAT Medic (A7) on 18 January 1916. He served on the Western Front where he died of wounds on 29 July 1916.
