Informal portrait of 404251Sergeant (Sgt) John Kirkpatrick Morris, RAAF, (later 102 Squadron RAF), of Brisbane, Qld, at the controls of a Tiger Moth training aircraft. The Tiger Moth is fitted with a canvas hood, used to practice flying blind. Sgt Morris was a clerk before enlisting on 19 July 1940. He was accidentally killed at the age of 21 on 14 April 1942. He was a crew member of a Halifax bomber (serial number FA R9488) which crashed while on air test at Bladersby, near Ripon, England, killing all on board.
