Description

Studio portrait of 7037 Private (Pte) Robert Edward Pratt, 9th Battalion, of Kyogle, NSW. A farmer prior to enlisting, Pte Pratt embarked from Brisbane with his brother, 7036 Pte David George Pratton on HMAT Kyarra (A55) on 17 November 1916, with the 23rd Reinforcements. Robert Pratt developed meningitis while on the troopship, and died at sea on 7 December 1916. Pte David Pratt was wounded in France in 1918 and was evacuated to a hospital in England. On 8 November 1918 whilst be repatriated to Australia he died at sea of influenza.
