Portrait of VX60248 Private (Pte) Lancelot James Fitt (alias Robert Dixon), 2/29th Battalion, of South Melbourne, Victoria. Enlisting on 25 July 1941, Pte Fitt's battalion was among those that fought in the Pacific Campaign as part of the defence of Singapore. On the 15 February 1942, the date the British commander on Singapore surrendered to the Japanese, Pte Fitt was listed as presumed dead, aged 21. He has no known grave, and his name is listed on column 130 at the Singapore Memorial.
