Description

Studio portrait of 110 Trooper (Tpr) Hobart Douglas Firns, 10th Light Horse Regiment. A mill hand from Serpentine, WA prior to enlistment, Tpr Firns embarked with A Squadron from Fremantle on HMAT Mashobra on 8 February 1915. He was Mentioned in Despatches for gallantry during the attack on Turkish trenches at Kiaijak Aghala, Gallipoli on 29 August 1915. During this action he was killed, aged 20, and is commemorated on the Lone Pine Memorial.
