Studio portrait of 712 Private (Pte) (later Sergeant) William Stanley Vigar (left), C Company, 27th Battalion (Bn), of Warooka, SA. Formerly a mechanic, Pte Vigar enlisted on 11 March 1915 and he embarked from Adelaide aboard HMAT Geelong, (A2), on 31 May 1915. He later served on the Western Front with the 2nd Pioneer Bn and he was killed in action at Bullecourt on 6 May 1917, aged 24 years. The soldier (right) is unidentified.
