Description
Studio portrait of 395B, Private (Pte) (later Sergeant) John Stanley Braddick, 2nd Machine Gun Battalion, of Eastwood, SA, sitting behind a Vickers Maxim machine gun. Formerly a horticulturist, Pte Braddick enlisted on 1 June 1916 and as a member of the 5th Reinforcements he embarked from Melbourne, Vic, aboard HMAT Commonwealth (A73) on 19 September 1916. He served on the Western Front and as a Lance Corporal he was awarded the Military Medal on 2 May 1918. He returned to Australia on 7 July 1919.
