Soldiers all at sea; verso: Five to six outside the estaminet
Description
Six soldiers are depicted on a vessel at sea; five of them are suffering the ailments of seasickness, each of them keeling over or slumped down in discomfort. The sixth soldier furthest to the right is smoking a cigarette, with one hand in his pocket, looking ahead in total disregard for his distressed compatriots. A flock of seagulls can be seen flying overhead in the background.
Verso: A group of six soldiers, all wearing slouch hats, are casually standing and sitting around outside their local bar. A few of the men are smoking pipes and cigarettes and two of them are having a chat with one another.
