Wallet 1 of 1 – Consists of one letter from Sergeant Wilson’s father, Mr James Wilson, to Sergeant Wilson’s cousin, 'Len' [identity unknown]. In this letter, dated 1 October 1945, Mr Wilson expresses his grief relating to the death of his son. Enclosed within the letter is a copy of the official letter sent to Mr Wilson informing him of the circumstances of Sergeant Wilson’s death.
Sergeant Clifton Morgan McKimm Wilson enlisted to the Second Australian Imperial Force on 27 June 1940. He served with 2/11 Field Company in Darwin, Northern Territory, and Ambon, Netherlands East Indies. In early February, Sergeant Wilson was captured by the Japanese as a prisoner of war and was interned on Ambon. Sergeant Wilson was killed on 15 February 1943 by a bomb explosion while a prisoner. He is buried at Ambon War Cemetery, Indonesia.
