Studio portrait of 4732 Private (Pte) John Livingstone Bennett, 11th Battalion, of Northam, WA. A draper prior to enlistment, Pte Bennett embarked from Fremantle on HMAT Ulysses ( A38) on 1 April 1916. He arrived in France on 14 June and was transferred to the 51st Battalion on 23 July. On 15 August 1916 Pte Bennett was killed in action at Mouquet Farm near Pozieres, France. He was 23 years of age.
