Studio portrait of NX53238 Signalman (Sig) John George Hunter, 8th Division Signals, of Sydney, NSW. A salesman in civilian life, Sig Hunter enlisted on 24 June 1940 at Paddington, NSW. In 1942 Sig Hunter became a prisoner of war (POW) of the Japanese in Siam (Thailand). He was reported as an accidental death in Burma (Myanmar) on 15 June 1943, aged 37.
