Studio portrait of 2140 Charles Sykes McIntosh Johnston, HMAS Cerberus, of Moss Vale, NSW. Johnston enlisted in the RAN on 30 September 1912 and initially served as Boy 2nd Class on HMAS Tingara. He went on to serve on HMAS Australia, then HMAS Psyche during the First World War, reaching the rank of Able Seaman (AB). He again served on HMAS Tingara October 1917 to February 1918.
