At a parade, the Governor General of Australia, His Excellency The Right Honourable Lord Gowrie VC PC GCMG CB DSO (front, centre), speaks with N60011 Captain Edward Vivian (Viv) Smythe, MC and Bar, (later Major). Smythe had previously served in the 24th Battalion in the First World War. During the Second World War he became a commanding officer at Cowra Prisoner of War (POW) camp.
