Studio portrait of 403816 Flight Sergeant (Flt Sgt) John Charles Weir Patrick, RAAF 24 Squadron of Pelaw Main, NSW. A mine surveyor at the Richmond Main Colliery prior to enlistment on 3 March 1941, Patrick was soon promoted to Sergeant on November 1941, and then Flight Sergeant on 1 April 1943. He was killed in an aircraft accident at the age of 24 when his Wirraway A20-176 crashed during tactical formation near Bankstown on 29 April 1943.
