Studio portrait of 402760 Flying Officer (FO) Frederick Thomas Breen, 460 Squadron, RAAF, of Rockdale, NSW. Formerly a press photographer, FO Breen enlisted at Sydney, NSW, on 14 October 1940 and after qualifying as a pilot he was posted to 460 Squadron, RAAF, at RAF Breighton, Yorkshire, flying Mk IV (Pratt & Whitney) Wellingtons. On the night of 26 July 1942, Breen and his crew took off in Wellington UV-C (Z1335) for a raid against Hamburg but they failed to return. The entire crew perished and they are buried at the Hamburg Cemetery, Ohlsdorf, Germany.
