Studio portrait of 3689 Private (Pte) Jack Berryman Wrigley, 24th Battalion, of Ballarat, Vic. Pte Wrigley served with the 71st (City of Ballarat) Infantry for three months prior to enlistment in July 1915. He left Australia for Egypt with the 8th Reinforcements in January 1916, and arrived in France for service on the Western Front in March 1916. After transferring to the 6th Machine Gun Company in May 1917, Pte Wrigley was killed in action during the attack on Passchendaele Ridge on 13 October 1917, aged 20.
