Studio portrait of 4635 Private William Milward, 31st Battalion, of Lismore, NSW. A labourer prior to enlistment, Pte Milward embarked with the 12th Reinforcements from Sydney on HMAT Demosthenes on 23 December 1916. On 10 April 1918 he was killed in action in France, aged 25.
