Studio portrait of 8891 Driver (Dvr) Henry Hicks, 2nd Division Ammunition Column, of Clarence Park, SA (left) and 4704 Corporal (Cpl) Peter George Edwards, 27th Battalion, of Unley, SA (right). A horse driver and footballer with the Sturt Football Club before enlisting in January 1916, Cpl Edwards left Australia with the 12th Reinforcements in April 1916 and arrived in France for service on the Western Front in September 1916. He was killed in action during the Second Division's attack at Passchendaele on 7 October 1917, aged 26, and has no known grave. Dvr Hicks was wounded in action and returned to Australia in December 1917.
