Hand coloured portrait of 2388 Private (Pte) Albert John Gould, 28th Battalion, of Nabawah, via Geraldton, WA. Formerly a labourer, Pte Gould enlisted on 2 August 1915 and as a member of the 5th Reinforcements, he embarked from Fremantle, WA, aboard HMAT Themistocles (A32) on 13 October 1915. He served on the Western Front where he was killed in action on 7 June 1916, aged 20 years.
